Black Cordé brand corded purse with tortoiseshell handles and leaf pull. Circa 1945. The bags were popular in the 1940s when traditional materials for making women’s bags like leather and silk were being used for the war effort. Fashion brands had to get creative with their designs and corded purses became popular. Many of these bags came with Lucite handles which could break over time. This bag came to me without the handles and I found replacements that I carted halfway around the world to bring back to repair it! I replaced the pull with a modern acetate one to match the tortoise shell pattern. Has metal zipper and interior divider. In some lights the black color almost looks navy. This is such a fun and unique piece!!! Geometric Art Deco design in the body of the bag.
